Our Journey

  • Parasotambhai (Dasbhai), with a strong understanding of rough diamonds and a desire to grow his expertise, moved to Surat in 1977 a city known as the idol of gold and the city of diamonds. He worked tirelessly to master rough diamond testing.

Over time, he began sourcing diamonds from outside and preparing them through labor. In 1983, he rented a floor in the well-known Sip Soda factory near Kachkiwad bus stand and started a factory. With dedication and luck, he progressed and began purchasing rough diamonds locally to grow the business.

    1977
  • First, the urn of choice was cast on Khopala and then Lakhanka villages of Gadhada taluka. Due to the availability of skilled diamond artisans, Babubhai and Bhupatbhai established small diamond manufacturing units by renting spaces in these villages. With ambition and hard work, the small beginning steadily grew. But the mind remained restless Khopala and Lakhanka felt limited. A greater dream was calling, one that soared like birds in the vast sky. At that moment, a new idea took shape in our minds. It was the beginning of something in the year 1990.

    1985
  • After the rough diamonds were ready, Surat proved too small a market for selling them. The next big step was Mumbai, a larger hub for polished diamonds and international exports. To take a more organized approach, three partners Parasotambhai, Babubhai, and Bhupatbhai founded "HAPPY GEMS" and opened an office at Opera House, Panch Ratna in Mumbai. Babubhai, an expert in polished diamonds, shifted from Bhavnagar to Mumbai. Meanwhile, Parasotambhai bought an office in Surat’s Kohinoor Building. Starting with six employees, they bought rough diamonds locally, processed them in Bhavnagar, and gradually grew sales in the Mumbai market.

    1993
  • This was a golden time for the diamond industry, offering a vast and excellent platform for opportunity and entrepreneurship. Bhupatbhai, with natural courage and an adventurous spirit, used his innovative thinking to explore the global market. In 1999, he became the first to visit Antwerp, Europe, to study and buy rough diamonds.

This marked a new journey for the company. From 2000, Parasotambhai also began visiting Antwerp, using his deep knowledge of rough diamonds. As business expanded, the need for a large manufacturing unit in Surat became essential to support operations.

    1999
  • Over time, the office in Mahidharpura began to feel cramped, so it was decided to set up a manufacturing unit in Surat as well. The search for a suitable location began, and a site at Ved Road, Pandol Industrial Estate was chosen.

In 2006, the first brick of the current company building was laid, marking the beginning of a new phase in the company's growth trajectory.

    2006
  • As the Bhavnagar unit faced space constraints, the company decided to build a larger facility there too. With this expansion and the noble aim of supporting livelihoods in Saurashtra, several more diamond manufacturing units were gradually established.

In 2010, a unit was launched in Botad, followed by Keshod (Junagadh) in 2011, and Mahuva and Savarkundla in 2012. Eventually, 20 to 25 more units were set up in various locations. This growth has created jobs for over 1,000 people, boosting the local economy and ensuring income for many families.

    2010
  • In 2018, Happy Gems ventured into the jewelry business alongside its diamond manufacturing operations, starting with just two employees and a small-scale setup. Initially, the company focused on fulfilling orders from friends and family, building a foundation based on trust and quality.

As word spread, Happy Gems quickly expanded its reach, transitioning to a B2C model and catering to high-end consumers. Today, Happy Gems continues to thrive in the jewelry industry, balancing its roots in diamond manufacturing with a strong, flourishing jewelry business that appeals to a global clientele.

    2018
  • The company exports diamonds and jewelry not only to Mumbai but also to countries across America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. This success is a testament to what three partners from the small village of Khopala in Saurashtra have achieved.

Despite having limited formal education, they excelled in business, and today, they are highly successful entrepreneurs, making significant strides in both social and commercial sectors.

Currently, the company is making full use of AI, setting an exemplary model of adaptation and transformation in line with changing times.

    2019
  • In 2023, Happy Gems expanded globally by opening an office in New York, marking its entry into the U.S. market. Parshotambhai's son was given charge of the office and soon began selling diamonds across various U.. cities and states.

The brand exhibited as "Happy Gems" at trade shows, showcasing premium jewelry. With a focus on quality and customer satisfaction, Happy Gems became one of the most trusted jewelry brands in the U.S., offering real diamond jewelry nationwide.
